Assault on bus driver at Cork Street, Dublin on the 10/1/09.

Gardai at Kevin Street are investigating an incident involving an assault on a bus driver on Cork Street, Dublin 10.01.09 and appeal for witnesses.

 

Gardai at the Pearse Street Garda Station are seeking witnesses to an alleged assault on a Dublin Bus driver and the subsequent hi-jacking of the 56A Bus on Cork Street, Dublin 8 on Saturday last the 10th of January 2009 at about 9.45 p.m.

In particular they would like to speak to a female passenger who got off the bus during the incident.

Gardai at Kevin Street are investigating an incident involving an assault on a bus driver on Cork Street at approximately 21.45 on the 10.01.09.

 

The bus driver was assaulted and forced of the bus by a male who proceeded to drive the bus a short distance before being overpowered by passengers who took control of the bus and brought it to a stop.

 

Gardai were immediately on the scene and arrested a 32 year old male who is currently detained in Kevin Street Garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. He can be detained for a period of up to 24 hours.

 

No passengers received any injuries.
