Firearm Seizure - Dublin South City 11/02/09

On Wednesday night, 11th February 2009, an operation targeting organised crime was carried out in South City Dublin by members of the Organised Crime, National Surveillance and Emergency Response Units.

On Wednesday night, 11th February 2009, an operation targeting organised crime was carried out in South City Dublin by members of the Organised Crime, National Surveillance and Emergency Response Units.

During the course of this operation 2 stolen vehicles were seized as was a loaded Gloch firearm and 13 rounds of ammunition.

Five men, all in their 20’s, were arrested and detained at various South City Dublin Stations under section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act.

Three of the five  men were released from custody tonight without charge and a file will be prepared and forwarded to The Director of Public Prosecutions.

Two remain in custody in Terenure and Pearse Staret Garda Stations.
