Fatal road traffic collisions at Sligo and Galway - names

Gardai have named the two men killed in weekend crashes.

 

Gardai have named the two men killed in weekend crashes.

 

The first man named is 59 year old James Flanagan of Sooey, Riverstown, Co. Sligo was fatally injured in a crash on the 20th of February near Sooey, Co.Sligo - please see previous release 196/09 below.

 

The second man is named as 28 year old, Martin Small of Castlegar, Co.Galway who died following a collision near Rossavil on the 22nd of February 2009 - please see previous press release 200/09 also below.

Gardai are investigating a fatal road traffic collision at 7.20 p.m. on the 20th of February 2009. The crash occurred near Sooey, Co. Sligo.

A 62 year old male pedestrian was fatally injured when he was involved in a collision with a car. The body of the dead man was taken to Sligo General Hospital where a post mortem examination will be carried out.

Gardai are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occured in the early hours of this morning sometime after 12 midnight and 3.00 a.m. on the 22nd of February, 2009. The collision occured at Ballinahown, Rossavil, Galway.

A 28 year old male driver was fatally injured when the car he was driving struck a water pump house. The body of the dead man was taken to University College Hospital Galway, where a post mortem examination will be carried out.

Gardai are appealling to any witnesses who may have travelled this road any time between 11.30 p.m. 21st February, 2009 and 3 a.m. 22nd February, 2009 to contact them at Salthill Garda Station 091.514720.
