Gardai were alerted to an armed robbery at Gorey Post Office.
At approximately 11.30 this morning, the 17th February 2009, Gardai were alerted to an armed robbery at Gorey Post Office.
One man entered the post office armed with what is believed to be a handgun, threatened staff and stole a sum of money. He then made his escape on a motorbike driven by a second person.
The men then switched transport to a waiting car. Gardai intercepted this vehicle and arrested two men. The stolen cash was recovered.
Both men are currently being detained under the provisions of Section 30 Offences Against the State Act at Gorey Garda station.
