Two men are in custody following an overnight incident at a house in Pearse Terrace, Westport, Co. Mayo.
Gardai were called to the house shortly after 2.30 a.m. on the 11th of December 2009. There were six adults and three children in the house at the time. Following incidents of public order and assault at the house, two males in their late teens were arrested, they are detained under Section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act 1984, at Westport Garda Station. The HSE have been notified regarding the incident.
A couple in their late teens and their 2 month old male child where taken from the scene to Mayo General Hospital and transferred to University College Hospital in Galway. The female has a serious facial injury and the male and baby where taken to hospital as a precaution. Another woman in her early 20s was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The incident is currently under investigation.
