Incident at Abbeylands, Navan, Meath on the 9/12/09 - Witness appeal

Gardai investigating an incident at Abbeylands Lane, Navan yesterday 9/12/09 during which a man received serious injuries are appealing for witnesses or persons with any information to come forward and speak to the investigation team.

In particular, Gardai would like to trace the movements of a black saloon type car, similar to a Renault Megane, which was observed at Abbeylands Lane at around 9.45am yesterday morning. This vehicle was again observed a short time later at Our Ladys Hospital in Navan. There were a number of men in the vehicle at the time and the car had english number plates. It is believed that the car was then driven out the Slane Road.

A Renault Megane car was subsequently found on fire at Cruicetown, approximately half way between Navan and Slane on the N51.


Gardai would like to speak to anybody who saw this vehicle in the Navan/Slane areas yesterday morning, or any persons who may have given directions to the occupants or from any person who witnessed the car on fire at Cruicetown to contact the Incident Room at Navan Garda Station, telephone 046-9079930 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666111.


The injured man, a 27 year old Lithuanian National, remains in a serious condition in the Mater Hospital in Dublin.
