Foiled armed raid in Tallaght, Dublin on the 10/12/09

Gardai in Tallaght responding to a report of an armed robbery in progress have arrested 2 men in a shop on Fortunestown Lane in Tallaght.

The incident happened at 8.20am this morning – 10th December 2009.


When Gardai arrived at the scene they were confronted by the 2 men who were armed with a knife and what was believed to be a firearm.


One of the Gardai successfully disarmed the man holding the firearm.  Both men aged in their mid thirties were arrested and are detained at Tallaght Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.


Gardai are now satisfied that the firearm was an imitation.


Following the incident one of the men was taken to Hospital for medical treatment for minor injuries.
