Attempted Post Office robbery at Dundalk, Louth on the 2/12/09

Gardaí have arrested three men in relation to what they believe to be an attempted post office robbery at Bridge Street, Dundalk, Co. Louth, at approximately 10.30 this morning 2nd December 2009.

The men were arrested by Gardai who were in the area of the post office monitoring a cash delivery by a security company.  Two were arrested at the scene on Bridge Street, the third man was arrested some distance away in Kilcurry. A hatchet was located by Gardai near the scene.

Two of the men are being detained in Dundalk and one is being detained in Drogheda Garda Station. They are all detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. Their ages range from mid 30s to mid 40s.

No one was injured during the incident and no shots were fired.
