Possession of firearm and arrest in Dublin on the 2/8/09

A man was stopped and searched on Charleville Avenue, Dublin.

 

As part of an ongoing operation targeting serious crime in Dublin City Centre a 24 year old man was stopped and searched on Charleville Avenue, Dublin 3, shortly after 11pm last night.

 

He was in possession of a loaded semi automatic handgun.

 

Detective Gardaí from Store Street arrested him and he was taken to Store Street Garda Station where he is presently being detained under section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act.

 

He can be held for up to 72 hours.
