Joint Garda/Customs operation carried out on the 1/8/09

A quantity of cannabis herb was recovered in both vehicles and subjest to analysis may have a street value of up to €600,000.

 

Two men are in custody and a quantity of cannabis herb has been seized following a joint Garda/Customs operation carried out on the 1st of August 2009.

 

Shortly after 7.00 p.m. on the 1st of August 2009 Gardai stopped and searched a truck at Rathcoole, Co. Dublin and as part of the same operation a van was stopped on the N4 near Celbridge, Co. Kildare.

 

A quantity of cannabis herb was recovered in both vehicles and subjest to analysis may have a street value of up to €600,000.  Both vehicles contained approximately 25 kg of the suspected drug.  Two men in their 30s were arrested.  The men, with addresses in Dublin, are detained under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act in Clondalkin Garda Station.

 

The operation was carried out by officers from the Garda National Drugs Unit, Customs Officers and Gardai from Tallaght and Clondalkin Drugs Units.
