Investigation into the shooting of John Carroll on the 18/2/09 - Arrests

Following a number of planned searches on premises in Dublin City four people were arrested.

 

Gardai investigating the fatal shooting of John Carroll on 18th February 2009 at a Public House in The Coombe, Dublin 8 have arrested a number of people in connection with this investigation.

 

Following a number of planned searches on premises in Dublin City today (17/8/09) four people were arrested - three males and a female).  (Two of the males are in their 30’s & 50’s, the third is a juvenile. The female is in her mid 20’s).

 

Two firearms and a quantity of ammunition were seized.

 

All four are currently detained in various Dublin City Garda Stations under Section 30 Offences Against The State Act.

Gardaí at Kevin Street are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred shortly after 9.30pm on the 18/2/09 in Grumpy Jacks, The Coombe, Dublin 8.

Two males on a motorcycle pulled up outside the public house and the pillion passenger went inside and singled out  a 33 year old man.  He then shot him a number of times at short range with a handgun.

The injured party was taken to St. James Hospital where he died a short time later.

Both suspects were wearing helmets and made their getaway on the motorcycle in the direction of Dean Street.

The scene is preserved pending a full technical examination and investigations are ongoing.

No arrests have been made.
