Murder of Matt Farrell, Daingean, Offaly on the 1/4/09 - Arrest

Matt Farrell died as a result injuries received to his head.

 

Gardai investigating the death of Matthew Farrell in Daingain on 1st April 2009 arrested a man in his late 20’s yesterday afternoon, the 9th April, 2009.

The man is being detained in Tullamore Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

A post mortem examination, which was carried out last evening, the 1st of April, has established that 64 year old Matt Farrell, died as a result injuries received to his head.

The Garda investigation into the death is continuing and we are appealing for anyone with information to contact the incident room at Tullamore Garda station on 057 9327078.

Gardai are investigating the discovery of the body of a man in his 60's at 7.30 a.m. on the 1st of April 2009.  The body was discovered by a member of the mans family, at a public house owned by the dead man in Daingean, Co. Offaly.  The dead man lived on the premises.

The scene is preserved for technical examination by the Garda Technical Bureau and the office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
