Drug seizure and arrest in Finglas, Dublin on the 18/4/09 - and court appearance

Approximately 120kgs of Cannabis Resin with an estimated value of €800,000 was seized after the vehicle in which it was being carried was stopped and searched in the Finglas Area.

 

Regarding the joint Organised Crime Unit / Garda National Drugs Unit operation resulting in the seizure of approximately 120kgs of Cannabis Resin on the 18th of April 2009.

The four men arrested have been charged with Sections 3 & 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act and will be brought before Dublin District Court 46 at 2pm today, the 20/4/09.

As a result of a joint operation between the Garda Organised Crime Unit and the Garda National Drugs Unit, assisted by local Garda Units from the Dublin Metropolitan Region (North) and Dublin Metropolitan Region (West), approximately 120kgs of Cannabis Resin with an estimated value of €800,000 (subject to analysis) was seized this afternoon 18th April, 2009 after the vehicle in which it was being carried was stopped and searched in the Finglas Area.

Three men in their mid to late 20's were arrested and are currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.  As part of this operation a fourth man in his mid 30's was also arrested in Co. Meath and is being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

Two of the men are being detained in Blanchardstown Garda Station, one in Finglas and one in Cabra Garda Stations.
