Commissioner comment on issuing of International Road Haulage Licences

The Garda Commissioner Fachtna Murphy has been in contact with a Member of the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission.

 

Media coverage over the weekend concerning the issuing of an International Road Haulage Operators Licence to a person with drug related convictions has been brought to the attention of the Garda Commissioner.

 

The Garda Commissioner Fachtna Murphy has been in contact with a Member of the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission who has confirmed that the circumstances surrounding the issuing of an International Road Haulage Operators Licence to a person with drug related convictions, in so far as it concerns Garda involvement, will form part of their public interest inquiry into related matters. In these circumstances the Garda Commissioner will not be making further comment.
