As the result of an ongoing operation, targeting criminal activity in the Shannon and Limerick City areas, Gardaí searched 2 houses in the Shannon area.
As the result of an ongoing operation, targeting criminal activity in the Shannon and Limerick City areas, Gardaí searched 2 houses in the Shannon area earlier this evening.
During the course of the searches the component parts of a pipe bomb were seized along with some ammunition, an amount of cannabis resin and what is believed to be a handgun.
A 27 year old man was arrested and is presently detained at Ennis Garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. The Regional Support Unit assisted Gardaí at Shannon in this operation.
