Fatal road traffic collision on the N54, Monaghan on the 11/11/08 - and victim named.

Gardai have named the male victim of this mornings fatal road traffic collision on the N54, Co. Monaghan, as 59 year old Michael Manley from Greaghnacapple, Roslea, Co. Fermanagh.

Gardai at Monaghan are investigating an accident in which a man was fatally injured. The accident occurred on the N54 the main Clones to Monaghan road at Stonebridge, Clones, Co. Monaghan at 11.45am on the 11th of November 2008. The accident occurred when a lorry and a van collided.

 

The driver of the van a man in his late fifties was fatally injured, the man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Cavan General Hospital where a post mortem examination will be carried out.

The driver of the lorry, and his passenger, were taken to Cavan General Hospital suffering from shock. The road is closed and diversions are in place.

 

The road at the scene of the crash is expected to re-open in the next hour.
