Operation Golf - Searches in North West and update.

Officers from the Criminal Assets Bureau, supported by local Garda units and other national units, commenced a number of searches in the North West

 

Further to previous release regarding Operation Golf, please be advised that this phase of the operation has now concluded and all searches have been completed.  

A total of fourteen locations were subject of search - nine (9) houses; four (4) professional offices and one public area. 

During the course of these searches, a large amount of documents, along with computer equipment was seized.

A small boat and three vehicles were also seized and are subject of investigation. No arrests were made nor are any imminent. 

The investigation is continuing and further details are not being disclosed.

Shortly before 7a.m. on the 12/3/08, Officers from the Criminal Assets Bureau, supported by local Garda units and other national units, commenced a number of searches in the North West area generally and the Sligo area in particular.    

Under the auspices of Operation Golf, a total of thirteen (13) premises are being searched – nine (9) private houses and four (4) professional offices.      

All searches remain ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time.    

Operation Golf is a target driven operation against those engaged in organised and serious crime in the North West region, centered around Sligo Town.  

The operation has been ongoing for some time and is very much a ‘live’ operation.  

For that reason, and the likelihood of further Garda activity within the operation, no further details can be released at this time.    

It is anticipated that media outlets will be updated later in the day.
