Road haulage enforcement

An Garda Siochana reiterates its strong commitment to the enforcement of road traffic and transport legislation.

 

A number of queries have been received at this office in relation to road haulage enforcement. 

An Garda Siochana reiterates its strong commitment to the enforcement of road traffic and transport legislation, as it applies to heavy goods vehicles on an ongoing basis. 

A number of areas of enforcement continue to be of particular concern, including unlicensed haulage, the use of marked gas oil in heavy goods vehicles, and the illegal transport and disposal of waste materials. 

Gardai continue to liaise with Revenue Commissioners, Road Safety Authority and Local Authority personnel with regard to ongoing implementation. 

 

The following offences were detected in 2007: 

No Merchandise license - 219 

No Merchandise License for Type of Goods Carried - 47 

Unlicensed semi-trailer - 92 

Consignor Offences - 2
