Drug seizure at Dundalk, Louth on the 11/6/08.

Gardaí from the Traffic Unit based at Dundalk stopped a motor car on the M1 motorway south of the Dundalk / Ardee South slip road.

 

Shortly before 10pm last night Gardaí from the Traffic Unit based at Dundalk stopped a motor car on the M1 motorway south of the Dundalk/Ardee South slip road. 

On searching the vehicle Gardaí seized a quantity of cannabis resin with a potential street value of €250,000 - depending on an  analysis of the substances seized. 

The cannabis resin was concealed in the boot of the car.  The 23 year old male driver of the car was arrested at the scene and is presently detained pursuant to Section 2 of The Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Dundalk Garda Station. 

The man who was arrested is from the area.  The Dundalk Divisional Drugs Unit assisted in this operation.
