Road traffic collision on the M50 on the 25/1/08.

Gardai received a report of a road traffic collision southbound on the M50 between the N4 and N7 junction.

On the morning of Friday, the 25/1/2008 at approximately 6.40am Gardai received a report of a road traffic collision southbound on the M50 between the N4 and N7 junction.

Gardai arrived at scene at 6.55am.

Three tow-wagons were despatched and were escorted by Garda motorcyclists.

It would appear that this collision involved a motorcyclist and six cars.  Early indications suggest that no life-threatening injuries were sustained in the collision.

Traffic units from Lucan, Blanchardstown, Terenure, and Dublin Castle are assisting on site.  This includes 2 traffic jeeps, 2 traffic cars and 8 motorcyclists.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.

The motorway has now (8.00am) been re-opened, however there is a serious traffic congestion backlog on the N4 and on the M50 southbound.

Gardai would like to reassure the public that all that can be done is being done at this time.
