Drug seizure in Palmerstown, Dublin on the 15/1/08 - and court update.

In an intelligence led operation, Gardai have seized 32 Kilograms of heroin.

 

A man in his 30's has appeared at Dublin District Court No. 46 this afternoon, the 17th of January 2008 charged in relation to a major drug seizure in the city on the 15th of January. 

The man was remanded in custody to appear before the court in one week.


The female who was detained in relation to the same operation has been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

In an intelligence led operation, Gardai from the Garda National Drugs Unit, Air Support Unit, Garda Technical Bureau, Ballyfermot and Clondalkin Gardai with other specialist Garda units including the Criminal Assets Bureau have seized 32 Kilograms of heroin with an estimated street value of 7 million Euro in the Palmerstown area of Dublin.



The operation began yesterday evening when Gardai searched a van and arrested a 35 year old man in Palmerstown. In follow up searches in various locations a 35 year old woman was also arrested.

Both are detained at Clondalkin Garda station under the provisions of Section 2 Criminal Justice (Drug trafficking) Act.

Gardai have also seized a number of vehicles for examination.
