Fatal stabbing at Portumna, Dublin on the 3/2/08

Gardai at Portumna are investigating a fatal stabbing at a private dwelling at Dominick Street, Portumna, Galway.

 

Gardai at Portumna are investigating a fatal stabbing at a private dwelling at Dominick Street in the town between 2.30am and 3.20am on the 3rd of February 2008. 

A 43 year old man was pronounced dead at Portiuncla Hospital in Ballinasloe following the incident. 

A 45 year old man was arrested and is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Loughrea Garda Station. 

The scene of the incident is preserved for technical examination and the Garda Technical Bureau will carry out investigations at the scene.  The office of the State Pathologist has been notified and a post mortem examination will be carried out on the deceased man.
