Fatal road traffic collision at Ballineen, Cork on the 2/1/08 - and name

Gardaí at Bandon are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that happened at Manche, Ballineen, Co. Cork.

 

Gardai have named the man killed in a crash at Ballineen, Co. Cork on the 2nd January 2008 as 29 year old Patrick O' Farrell of Bantry Road, Dunmanway.

Gardaí at Bandon are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that happened at approximately 9.30pm yesterday evening, the 2nd January 2008, at Manche, Ballineen, Co. Cork.

One person was fatally injured when the car they were driving left the road and collided with a number of trees on the left hand side of road.  The car burst into flames following impact.  The driver is believed to have been the sole occupant of the car at the time of the collision.

The body was removed from the scene and taken to Cork University Hospital.

The road is currently closed and diversions are in place.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Bandon Garda Station on 023 - 52200.

There is no further information at present, but updates will be provided in due course.
