Traffic advice - Croke Park - 9 -10/8/08

Traffic Advice sent on behalf of Dublin Metropolitan Regional Traffic Division.

 

The following matches will take place in Croke Park over the period of Saturday 9th August and Sunday 10th August 2008. 

Saturday 9th:  2.00pm Armagh v Wexford;   4.00pm Galway v Kerry. 

Sunday 10th:  12.15pm Kilkenny v Tipperary;   2.00pm Cork v Kildare;   4.00pm Cork v Kilkenny. 

The Garda Traffic Corps in the Dublin Region will be operational during these events to assist with traffic mangement. 

The main affected routes are expected to be as follows: 

Saturday 9th:- Armagh - M1, Wexford - N11 and N81, Galway - N5 and N4, Kerry - M7 and N7. 

Local Routes affected: M50, Croke Park Cordon, Quays, City Centre, Drumcondra Road / Swords Rroad, N4 and (Heuston - M50). 

Sunday 10th:  Kilkenny - M7/N7, Tipperary - M7/N7, Cork - M7/N7, Kildare - M7/N7 and M4/N4.     

Local Routes affected: M50, Croke Park Cordon, Quays, City Centre, Drumcondra Road / Swords Road, N4 and(Heuston - M50).    

Gardai are advising motorists to expect increased traffic volumes and subsequent delays.  Those travelling are advised to leave early and give plenty of time to reach their destination, to car-share where possible, and to utilise public transport within the Dublin Region. 

The Road Safety messages in respect of last weekend's Bank Holiday are also being re-iterated:  - Reduce speed  - Wear seat belts  - Never ever drink and drive  - "Arrive alive".
