Fatal road traffic collision at Roscrea, Tipperary on the 18/4/08 - and name.

Gardai are investigating a fatal road traffic collision near Roscrea on the N7, 1 mile on the Limerick side of the town.

 

Gardai have named the 36 year old man killed in a crash at Carrig, Roscrea, on the 18th of April 2008, as James Reddington of The Mews, Fairfield Court, Herbert Road, Dublin 4.

The deceased was a serving Detective Member of An Garda Síochána and was stationed at Donnybrook Garda Station.  He was a native of Swinford, Co. Mayo.

Witnesses to this collission are requested to contacted Roscrea Garda Station at 0505-24230 or any Garda Station

Gardai are investigating a fatal road traffic collision near Roscrea on the N7, 1 mile on the Limerick side of  the town. This occurred at approx 3.50pm on the 18th of April 2008.  A 36 years old male was fatally injured when his motorcycle was in collision with a car. The deceased was an off duty Garda attached to Donnybrook Garda Station.

The deceased has been removed to Nenagh Hospital a post mortem examination will be carried out tomorrow the 19th of April 2008.

The sole occupant of the car, a female was injured and taken to Nenagh Hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Traffic from the Dublin direction is diverting to Templemore, traffic from Limerick is also diverted at Ballinakill into Roscrea.

These diversions will remain in place for a number of hours.

This matter has been referred to the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission.
