Drug seizure at Dundalk, Louth on the 14/4/08.

As a result of a planned operation involving the Garda National Drug's Unit and Revenue's Customs Service.

 

As a result of a planned operation involving the Garda National Drug's Unit and Revenue's Customs Service a 53 year old South African man was arrested shortly before 10pm last night 14th April 2008. 

This man was found to be in possession of 15 Kgs of Herbal Cannabis in the Dundalk area. 

The drugs were seized and have an estimated street value of €150,000, depending on analysis. 

This operation targeted a Nigerian drug trafficking ring operating nationwide. 

Dundalk's Drug Unit assisted in the arrest and the man is presently detained at Dundalk Garda Station under section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act. 

For operational reasons an exact location for the arrest will not be provided and no further information apart from what is contained in this release will be given out. 

Updates on the status of the arrest will be released.
