Drugs Seizures and Arrests Dublin 12th - 13th October 2017

On Thursday 12th October Gardaí from Ballymun carried out a search of a warehouse in the Cloghran area. During the search Gardaí seized Cannabis Plants with an estimated value of €30,000, along with a small quantity of Amphetamine (analysis pending). Three men (two aged in their 30s and one in his 40s) were arrested at the scene.

During the operation a car was stopped and searched in the vicinity of the warehouse. A small quantity of Cocaine (analysis pending) along with a sum of cash was recovered from the car. The diver of the car, a woman in her 30s, was also arrested. It was later established that the car had been stolen.

The four arrested were taken to Garda stations in north Dublin and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 for questioning.

On the 13th of October a follow up search was carried out at house in the Kilmainham area. During the search Cannabis Herb with an estimated value of €240,000 (analysis pending) was recovered.  

Court Appearances -

Two of the men arrested are expected to appear before a sitting of Dublin District Court (C.C.J. 2) at 4.30pm this evening (14/10/2017) charged in connection with the investigation.

The third man (30s) was released without charge, a file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions. The woman (30s) arrested during the operation was charged before a sitting of Dublin District Court on 13/10/2017 in connection with the case.

The operation was carried out as part of operation ‘Thor’ by members of the Divisional Task Force based in Ballymun assisted by the Armed Support Unit.

The investigation is ongoing.
