Renewed Witness Appeal - Serious assault in Maynooth, Kildare on the 20/11/16

Gardai investigating the serious assault that occurred close to the Moyglare Abbey Estate, Maynooth, Co Kildare on Sunday 20th November 2016 have named the injured woman as Kym Owens, an 18 years old student from Castleblaney, Co. Monaghan.

Kym travelled on a private bus, belonging to the A2B Bus Company, from Monaghan to Maynooth on Sunday night and got off the bus in Maynooth at approximately 8.15p.m. Kym was wearing a long dark green coat with a hood, black jeans, a red hoody and white converse runners. She was carrying a sports bag, green in colour with 'Castleblaney Faughs' on the side.

Gardai are appealing in particular to

- any person on the bus.

- any person in the vicinity of Maynooth Village/Moyglare Abbey Estate between 7pm and 9pm on Sunday night 20th November 2016.

- any person who noticed anything unusual, in particular any person with staining on their clothes or perhaps in an agitated state.

Superintendent Gerry Wall of Leixlip Garda Station will hold the media appeal at Moyglare Abbey Estate at 12.30 today the 22/11/16 and not at 12 midday as previously stated.

Gardai investigating the serious assault that occurred in the proximity of the Moyglare Abbey Estate, Maynooth, Co Kildare on Sunday 20th November 2016 will hold a media appeal on the 22/11/16.

Superintendent Gerry Wall of Leixlip Garda Station will hold the media appeal at Moyglare Abbey Estate at 12 midday tomorrow the 22/11/16.

The scene continues to be technical examined and no arrests have been made.

Gardai wish to renew their appeal for witnesses and anyone with information, particularly those who were in the vicinity of Maynooth Village/Moyglare Abbey Estate between 7.30pm and 9.15pm last night, Sunday 20th November 2016. Gardaí are investigating a serious assault that occurred in the proximity of the Moyglare Abbey Estate, Maynooth, Co Kildare yesterday evening, Sunday 20th November 2016 shortly before 8.30pm.

A woman, 18 years, was discovered seriously injured on the footpath at the entrance of the Moyglare Abbey Estate. The injured woman received medical assistance at the scene before being taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital, Blanchardstown.

The scene has been preserved for technical examination. No arrests have been made.
