Road reopened- Fatal road traffic collision on the Naas Road, Dublin on the 31/1/16

Gardai in Clondalkin  investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the Naas Rd, inbound past Newlands Cross this morning the 31st January 2016 are appealing for witnesses.

In particular  anyone who was travelling either into the city or towards Naas on the Dual carriageway, between Newlands Cross and the M.50 turn off, between the hours of 3.00am and 4.30am on the 31st January 2016 and who may have noticed a male on or near the roadway, anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who is in a position to assist with the investigation contact the Gardai at Clondalkin Ph. 01 6667600, the Garda Confidential Number, Ph. 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

Gardai in Clondalkin are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the Naas Road inbound past Newlands Cross this morning at approximately 3am.

A male in his 20’s was fatally injured when he was struck by a car. His body remains at the scene.

This stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision investigators. It is expected to remain closed for the next number of hours.

Traffic inbound on the N7 is being diverted down Boot Road just before Newlands Cross and onto: 1) Clondalkin Village before rejoining the N7 inbound at the M50 Junction,  or 2) Fonthill Road (R113) to the join the N4.  There is no left turn onto the N7 inbound from Fonthill Road and no right turn from Belgard Rd onto the N7 inbound.

Alternatively, N7 inbound traffic may leave the N7 at Junction 2 Kingswood and use the R136 North to the N4 or South to the N81.
