As a result of an ongoing Operation by Gardai from the District Drug Unit attached to Tallaght Garda station into the sale and supply of controlled substances in the Tallaght area, a house was searched at Castle Lawns, Tallaght on the 30th January 2016.

During the course of the search Gardai discovered a half kilo of heroin (subject to analysis) with an approximate street value of €70,000.

One male 24 years was arrested and is being detained at Tallaght Garda station under the provisions of section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 as amended.

These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
