Court Appearance - Fatal road traffic collision in Clontarf, Dublin on the 30/6/15

A male in his 20’s is scheduled to appear before Court Number 1, The Criminal Courts of Justice, Parkgate Street this morning at 10.30am charged in connection with the fatal road traffic collision in Clontarf, Dublin on the 30th June 2015.

A man arrested earlier today (7/7/2015) by Gardaí investigating a Fatal Traffic Collision in Clontarf on the 30th of June, 2015 has been released without charge. A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A man has been arrested by Gardaí from Clontarf investigating a fatal traffic collision which occurred on Clontarf Road on the 30th June, 2015. The man, who is aged in his 20s, was arrested earlier today (7/7/2015).

He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Clontarf Garda Station.

Investigating Gardaí would like to thank those who have come forward and assisted them with their investigation to date, and are continuing to appeal for witnesses to contact the incident room.

Gardaí in Clontarf are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Clontarf, Dublin on the 30th June, 2015.

At approximately 6.30pm a 62 year old male cyclist was seriously injured when he was struck by a car. The collision occurred on the Clontarf road at the junction with Howth Road. The cyclist was taken by Ambulance to Beaumont Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The car involved in the collision, described by witnesses as a silver coloured Volkswagen Golf, failed to remain at the scene.

Gardaí recovered a silver Volkswagen Golf a short time later in Marino. The car has been seized for a technical and forensic examination. The scene was examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has since reopened to traffic. The Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be carried out later today (1/7/2015).

Investigating Gardaí are appealing to the driver of the car to contact them. They are also appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or who observed a silver Volkswagen Golf (05 D registered) in the vicinity of Fairview, Clontarf road and Marino area between 6.15pm – 6.45pm to contact the incident room at Clontarf Garda Station.
