Update - Firearms recovered and arrests at Clonshaugh, Dublin on the 29/5/15

Two males (aged 38 and 44 years) are expected to appear before a sitting of Dublin District Court, Criminal Courts of Justice, No. 2, tomorrow morning (1/6/2015) charged in connection with this investigation.

The men were arrested during an operation in the Clonshaugh area of Dublin, when members of the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, assisted by the Emergency Response Unit and national units, stopped and searched a car and a van and recovered firearms and ammunition.

As a result of an intelligence led operation conducted today the 29th May 2015, members of the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, assisted by the Emergency Response Unit and national units, stopped and searched a car on Clonshaugh Avenue, Coolock.


During the course of the search Gardaí seized two firearms, subject to analysis and arrested the driver. Simultaneously a van was stopped on Clonshaugh Road and a man was arrested. The two men (aged 39 and 44 years) are currently detained at Coolock Garda Station pursuant to Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.

Investigations are ongoing.
