Update - Serious road traffic collision at Castlebar, Mayo on the 30/7/15

An 18 year old female pedestrian seriously injured in a road traffic collision on the Castlebar to Claremorris Road (N60) yesterday evening (30/7/15) was pronounced dead at 11.30pm last night at Mayo General Hospital.

Gardai in Castlebar are investigating a serious collision at Carrownurlaur, Breaffy, Castlebar on the 30th June 2015.


The collision occurred on the Castlebar to Claremorris Road (N60) at approximately 5pm between a car and a female pedestrian (18 years).  The pedestrian was seriously injured and taken to Mayo General Hospital where her condition is described as serious.

The female driver (83 years) and a young male passenger were also taken to hospital but more as a precaution as no injuries were reported.

The road was closed to facilitate a Forensic Collision examination but has since since reopened.
