Organised Crime Operation and Arrests on the 15/4/15

In the early hours of this morning 15th April 2015, Gardaí carried out a number of searches in the Balbriggan, Donabate, Blanchardstown areas as well as the North inner City.

These searches were part of an extensive investigation into Romanian Organised Criminal Groups involved in the aggravated burglaries of jewellery shops throughout the country, during the course of which staff members were assaulted.

The investigation was carried out by the newly formed Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, supported by detectives from Meath, Kildare and North Dublin, and the Garda Emergency Response Unit.

A total of five men have been detained under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007. They are all aged in their mid thirties and are detained at a number of North Dublin Garda Stations.

During the course of the search computer equipment and phones had been seized.
