An Post Investigation - man released

Gardai investigating the interception, theft and unauthorised use of payment cards from the postal system in the Dublin area have released without charge the man in his 30s detained in relation the operation.

A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

On 25th and 26th of July 2013 a planned operation was carried out by the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation and An Post, which led to a search being carried out in the Crumlin area. During this search Gardaí discovered of several items which were believed to be stolen, including post. A man was arrested at the scene.  
 

The man in his 40s is an employee of An Post and was taken to Terenure Garda Station where he was detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
