Murder of Seamus Byrne on the 13/3/09 - Male charged

Gardai investigating the fatal shooting of Shay O' Byrne on the 13th March 2009 have charged a male (29yrs) in connection with the shooting.

He will appear before Court No 2, Criminal Courts of Justice, Parkgate Street, at 10.30am on Tuesday, the 31st July 2012.

Gardai investigating the fatal shooting of Seamus (Shay) O'Byrne, on the 13th of March are appealing for the public's assistance in establishing the location and movements of a white 5-door Nissan Micra hatchback, registration number 93 MH 3613.

Anyone who may know the current location of the vehicle or have seen the vehicle in the days prior to or since 13th March is asked to contact the incident room at Tallaght Garda station on 01-6666056.

Gardai investigating the shooting have also made an additional arrest last night - 19th March 2009 - a woman in her late 20's in currently being detained at Rathfarnham Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

Gardai investigating the fatal shooting of Seamus (Shay) O'Byrne, on the 13th of March, have made further arrests.

A 33 year old male and a 35 year old female were arrested yesterday evening (18.03.09).

Both are detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act. The male is detained at Terenure Garda Station and the female at Tallaght Garda Station.

The 31 year old male who was arrested on the 17.03.09 remains in custody at Tallaght Garda Station.

Gardai investigating the fatal shooting of Seamus (Shay) O'Byrne, on the 13th of March, have arrested a fifth person.  The 31 year old male was arrested this afternoon the 17th of March 2009.  He is detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Tallaght Garda Station.

Garda have released all four people who had been in custody as part of the investigation into the fatal shooting of Shay O'Byrne. They were released late yesterday evening the 16th of March 2009 and files will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Gardai investigating the fatal shooting of Seamus (Shay) O'Byrne, on the 13th of March, have arrested a forth person.  The 16 year old female was arrested this afternoon the 16th of March 2009, in Tallaght.  She is detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Terenure Garda Station.

Three other, detained at Tallaght and Rathfarnham, remain in custody.

Gardaí investigating last night's fatal shooting in Tymon North Park have made 3 arrests.

The arrests were made late last night in the Crumlin area.

All 3 people arrested are male and they are being detained at Rathfarnham and Tallaght Garda Stations under section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act.

One man is in his late teens and the other two are in their mid 20's.

There are no further updates at this time.

Gardaí at Tallaght are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the driveway of a house on Tymon North Park shortly before 8.30pm this evening.

A 27 year old man was shot a number of times by a lone gunman and died at the scene.

A 26 year old female was shot in the leg and has been taken to Tallaght Hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

The scene has been preserved and the services of The Garda Technical Bureau and The State Pathologist have been requested.

No arrests have been made.
