Various incidents in Limerick

As a result of an ongoing operation (targeting serious crime in Limerick City) Gardaí at Henry Street and Mayorstone Garda Stations carried out planned searches

 

As a result of an ongoing operation (targeting serious crime in Limerick City) Gardaí at Henry Street and Mayorstone Garda Stations carried out planned searches last evening in the Marys Park / Thomond Gate areas.

 

As a result Gardaí recovered two firearms - a handgun and a shotgun - along with an amount of ammunition. The weapons have been forwarded for forensic examination.

 

Two males - one in his 30’s the other in his 40’s, were arrested and are currently being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act at Henry Street Garda Station.

Another firearm was recovered in the area after another search was carried as part of this operation and 2 juvenile males were arrested.

 

They are currently detained under Sect 30 OASA at Henry St Garda station.

As part of a separate operation and planned searches, Gardai from Bruff, assisted by Limerick City Gardaí seized approximately 4kg’s of Cocaine at a house at Murroe, Co. Limerick.  The estimated street value of this seizure is €400,000, subject to forensic examination.

 

One male in his 20’s was  arrested at the scene and is currently detained at Bruff Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.

 

Finally, at approximately 4am there was an attempted arson attack on a property at Moylish Crescent, Ballynanty. In a follow up investigation a 17year old male youth was arrested.

He is presently being detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Henry street Garda Station.
