Gardai in Athlone investigating the death of Lillian Scanlon on 9th May 2008.

 

Gardai in Athlone investigating the death of Lily Scanlon at Valleycourt, Athlone on 9th May 2008 have arrested a 52 year old female in Athlone at 8.15am this morning. 

She is currently being detained at Athlone Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardai have released without charge, two people, a male and female in their 50's, who were being detained as part of the investigation into the death of Lily Scanlon at Valleycourt, Athlone on the 9th of May 2008.  

They were released today the 17th of May and a file is being prepared for the Director Public Prosecutions.

Further to Press Release 626/08 below - the male being detained in Longford under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act is 51 years old, and the woman being detained in Athlone under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act is 52 years old. 

There is no further information at present but updates will be provided in due course.

Gardai in Athlone investigating the death of Lillian Scanlon on 9th May 2008 in Athlone (Press releases 603/08 and 605/08 below refer), have arrested a man and a woman at seperate addresses in the Willow Park area of Athlone at approximately 8.00am this morning. 

The man is being detained at Longford Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. 

The woman is being detained at Athlone Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act. 

There is no further information at present but updates will be provided in due course.

In relation the the body discovered in Athlone and  subsequent post mortem, original press release 603/08 refers. 

Post Mortem completed and cannot establish the cause of death at this time.

There are a number of injuries to the body which may or may not have contributed to the death.  

No further details are to be released at the moment.

Gardai at Athlone are investigating the discovery of the body of a female in her late 40's. 

The body was discovered at about 10.00 am on the 9th of May 2008 at a house in Valley Court in Athlone, Co Westmeath. 

The scene has been preserved for technical examination and the State Pathologist's Office has been notified.   

The investigation into the circumstances of the death is continuing and any updated will be issued.
