Gardaí in Monaghan are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the N2 at Killmarley, Co Monaghan on the 20th January 2016.
The collision involving a male pedestrian (70 years) and a car occurred at approximately 5.50pm at Killmarley (about two miles south of Monaghan town). The male was seriously injured and pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken to the morgue at Monaghan Hospital. The male driver (sole occupant) was uninjured in the collision.
The road is closed to facilitate a Forensic collision examination and diversions are in place. It is expected that the road will remain closed until 12 noon tomorrow the 21st January.
