Continuous Professional Development

This service is located at the Garda College Outsource centre in Nenagh. It is under the control of a Superintendent and his staff.

CPD has responsibility for Information Technology Training Section (ITTS) and Support Services in the Garda College. It is also responsible for disseminating training courses to Divisional CPD Units.

The CPD Core Programme includes modules in:-

Legislation and H.Q Directives
Professional & Ethical Conduct
Objections to Bail
Forensic Collision Investigation
Mental Health Awareness
Trafficking in Human Beings

CPD also facilitates an ever-increasing number of specialised training courses including:-

Traffic Corps
United Nations
Ethnic Liaison
National Collator’s Office
Telecoms
Interviewing Child Victims

Divisional CPD Units

There are 25 national CPD training centres that facilitate local training for the organisation. These provide and coordinate a wide variety of courses and seminars to various groups and units within the Garda Organisation, many of which are targeted at the various specialist units. The units are responsible for delivery of the CPD Core Programme each year as well as additional courses such as:-
