The National Ploughing Championships 2013

At Ratheniska, Stradbally, Laois on the 24th to the 26th September 2013

The National Ploughing Championships will take place at Ratheniska, Stradbally, Co. Laois from 24th to 26th September 2013. A capacity crowd in excess of 200,000 is expected to attend.

A significant Traffic Management Plan has been prepared for the event which is designed to facilitate the expeditious and free flow of traffic into and from the event arena and surrounding carparks. The co-operation of the Public is being sought to adhere to the traffic plan.

There are six main access routes for Ploughing Traffic all of which are clearly signposted with “PLOUGHING” signage. All junctions will be manned by Gardai.

1. Traffic from Cork / Munster  
    (IMPERATIVE that drivers EXIT at Junction 4 Urlingford/Johnstown on the M8)

2. Traffic from Dublin/ Leinster/ North
    (EXIT at Junction 15 Cappakeel on the M7)

3. Traffic from Limerick/ Kerry/ South West
    (EXIT at Junction 17 Togher on the M7)

4. Traffic from the West
    (FOLLOW the “Ploughing” signs)

5. Traffic from South East/ Carlow
    (FOLLOW the “Ploughing” signs)

6.  Traffic from South East (Kilkenny)
     (FOLLOW the “Ploughing” signs)

Travellers are requested to plan their journey in advance in accordance with the most appropriate route and allow plenty of time for travelling

PLEASE DO NOT use Satellite navigation as this will take you off the most direct route

Have PASSES CLEARLY displayed on the windscreen (not in the boot or back seat)

Do not cause Traffic build-up by asking directions at junctions as all routes are clearly signposted.
