Update (1): Investigation into Alleged Unauthorised Removal of Controlled Substance from a Garda Station - 19th November 2025

Gardaí in the Eastern Region continue to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the alleged unauthorised removal of a substantial quantity of controlled drugs from a Garda Station in January  2024.

This involved Detective Gardaí from the Eastern Region, supported by the Garda Anti-Corruption Unit, Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, and Regional Garda Cyber Crime Bureau carrying out a number of searches and arrests in relation to organised crime in the region yesterday, Wednesday 19th November 2025.

A member of An Garda Síochána who was arrested in connection with the investigation yesterday, Wednesday 19th November 2025, has been released without charge. Immediately upon release the member of An Garda Síochána was placed on suspension from duty.

The five other people (not members of An Garda Síochána) who were arrested in connection with the investigation yesterday, Wednesday 19th November 2025, have all been released without charge.

Investigations, which are being led by a Senior Investigating Officer from the Eastern Region, are continuing at this time.

Files will be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
