Operation Thor: €45,000 Cash Seizure and Three Arrests - Waterford City - 19th January 2023

As part of the ongoing Operation Thor, Gardaí carried out a number of searches in Waterford City earlier today, Thursday, 19th January 2023 and seized €45,000 in cash.

Three men were arrested on suspicion of having committed Money Laundering Offences.

The men, 2 aged in their 30s and one in his 40s are currently detained at Tramore and Dungarvan Garda Stations under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. 

Investigations ongoing.


Note:
Operation Thor, launched in November 2015, is designed to tackle the anticipated increase in the number of burglaries and associated criminal activity that usually occur in winter months by undertaking targeted enforcement and preventative activity. This initiative has successfully reduced the rate of winter burglaries, leading to a significant decline in property related crime since its introduction in 2015.

The Winter Phase of Operation Thor was launched on the 30th September 2022.
