Robbery Incident in Castlebar, Mayo on the 10/9/16

Gardaí have arrested a 28-year-old man following a robbery at a bookmakers shop in Castlebar, Co Mayo.

At approximately 9.10pm a lone male threatened a staff member in a bookmakers shop on Castle Street before leaving the scene on foot with a sum of cash. No one was injured during the incident.

During a follow up operation involving local Garda units a man was arrested nearby a short time later, a sum of cash was recovered.

The man is currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Castlebar Garda Station.

Investigations are ongoing and further updates will follow.
