Garda/PSNI participation in this year’s National Lottery Dublin’s Marathon 31st Oct 2011

Over 200 Gardai/PSNI officers are to start together at the front of the marathon and have been given this courtesy for the past three years.

The Garda Band will play be at the begining of the race and former Sergeant Mick Miley will sing the National Anthem prior to the start.

All Gardai/PSNI officers will also be wearing bespoke running gear proudly wearing the Garda crest on their singlet.

This year all Garda/PSNI members will also wear a symbol, (small black ribbon) to remember their colleague Garda Ciaran Jones who tragically lost his life earlier this week while warning oncoming motorists of flood danger near his home in Co Wicklow during torrential rain.

Gardai also wish to pay tribute to the hospice nurse who died when her basement flat flooded, Filipino woman Celia Ferrer De Jesus.

Gardai/PSNI will run to raise money for good causes and hope to raise in excess of €20,000.
