Open Competition for Recruitment of Data Architect (Principal Officer) in An Garda Síochána, Garda Headquarters, Phoenix Park, Dublin 8.

The Data Architect role is a new role in the Office of the Chief Information Officer of An Garda Síochána.  It will be the key role in leading the development of data architecture and a data engineering practice. The Data Architect will ensure that An Garda Síochána data management practices are strong enough to underpin Garda digital and analytical services with scalable, shared, secure access to data.

The role requires a combination of technology and data science skills and knowledge as well as a broad technical background in systems architecture and design, online systems, mobile applications, databases, infrastructure, cloud computing and vendor management.

This role involves a wide range of responsibilities, including:

  • Driving improvements in the way An Garda Síochána holds, manages and uses data;
  • Development of An Garda Síochána data infrastructure to support the data management lifecycle from creation to destruction;
  • Development of a data architecture for current and future data holdings;
  • Identification and delivery of projects to implement and maintain the target data architecture;
  • Selection and implementation of technology to support automation throughout the data management lifecycle;
  • Identifying and exploiting new data sources and development of data analytics capabilities/technologies.
