Cash In Transit robbery at Bayside Shopping Centre on the 21/4/17

The Gardaí at Howth Garda Station, are investigating a cash in transit Robbery that occurred on Friday 21st April 2017 at approximately 11.45am.

The security van was making a delivery at Bayside Shopping Centre and parked on the road beside the local shop. At the same time a black Opel Vectra car registration number 01D31373 drove past the security van and made a u-turn before parking a short distance behind the van on Bayside Boulavard East.

As the security guard was taking a cash box into the shop a man got out of the rear passenger seat of the Opel Vectra car and ran towards the security guard. He was armed with a handgun and pointed it at him. He told him to drop the cash box. The man picked up the box and ran to the waiting Opel Vectra car and got into the rear passenger seat.

The Opel Vectra car drove into Bayside Train Station at Sutton Park, two men got out of the car and used a consaw in an attempt to open the cash box. An amount of coloured dye exploded in the box. The men put the cash into a bag and fled on foot through an underpass from the train station leading to Seagrange Park. They walked along the footpath adjacent to the train station towards Seacliffe Drive. There was a continuous trail of blue dye from the train station to Seacliffe Drive where it ends.

• Suspect 1:  # White Male # 5”8” to 5”9” in Height # Slim Build # Grey Tracksuit  # Beige Baseball Cap # Dark Runners with white sole # Dark Gloves

• Suspect 2: 

# White Male # 5'6” to 5'8” in Height # Heavy Build # Green Puffa Jacket with Hood Up # Grey Beanie Hat # Dark Scarf # Driver of Opel Vectra Car # Carried Consaw in left hand

Appeal:

• Gardaí appealed to anyone in the Bayside / Sutton Park / Tonlegee Road or the Kilbarrack Road area on the morning of Friday 21st April 2017 who may have seen the black Opel Vectra Car registration number 01D31373.

• Gardaí appealed to anyone at Bayside Train Station and Seacliffe Drive area at approximately 11.50am who saw two men carrying a bag and a consaw. Gardaí were particularly interested in the movements of the two men at Seacliffe Drive and believe they may have got into a second car here.

• Gardaí appealed to retailers, vendors etc who have received €20 notes with blue dye on them to come forward.

• Gardaí appealed to anyone with information in relation to this crime to come forward.
