Discovery of Human Remains, Ballyfermot, Dublin discovered on the 31/7/14

The Gardaí at Ballyfermot Garda Station are investigating the discovery of human remains at Thornton’s waste recycling plant in Ballyfermot, Dublin on Thursday 31st July, 2014 at 11pm.

The area was immediately preserved for a technical examination. The Gardaí examined approximately one thousand tonnes of refuse over the following four days and further remains were subsequently discovered.

Gardaí believe the source of the refuse is from skips collected in the Dublin and wider Leinster area.

The post mortem examination established that the remains are that of a male, twenty five to forty five years old, five foot eight inches to six foot in height. The victim had received surgery to his head, medically known as a Bilateral Decompressive Craniotomy.

Appeal:

• Gardaí are appealing for information as to the identity of the deceased and are appealing for any information that may lead them to where and how he died.
