Pipe Bomb at Newtownmountkennedy, Co.Wicklow on the 20/6/12

The Gardaí at Bray Garda Station are investigating a pipe bomb incident that occurred on the morning of Wednesday the 20th June 2012 at 8am.


A five year old boy was at home on Sycamore Drive getting ready for school, he was preparing to cycle as part of a local cycle to school initiative in the community. He was in the front garden putting on his helmet when he saw an unusual item in the garden. The young boy picked up the item and it exploded in his hand causing extensive injuries to him. The boy was rushed to the doctors where he was transferred by ambulance to Crumlin’s Children’s Hospital where he received medical attention.


The viable device was callously left in the front garden of a family home. The young school boy received horrific injuries, his mother Kelly Anne will be in studio to discuss the effect of this incident on her son and her family.
