Attempted Murder in Kilcock, Co. Kildare on the 6/12/11

The Gardaí at Leixlip Garda Station are investigating an attempted murder that occurred in Brayton Park, Kilcock on the 6th December 2011.

At 11.40am a young man left his house to go to work, he got into his jeep, just as he drove off, a blue Volkswagen Passat estate car drove out in front of him.  This car was bearing cloned registration plates - 06LS1770.  When they turned the corner at a sharp bend the estate car stopped in front of the young man, as he waited for the car to move off the passenger got out and approached the driver’s door.  The man was holding a gun in his right hand with his left hand supporting it, he fired a shot in through the window, but the window didn’t break.  The gunman then opened the driver’s door and fired another shot hitting the young man in the back of his head.  The young man managed to drive onto a grass verge and drove out of the estate, the gunman returned to the blue passat and it drove out of the estate and turned left.  The young man drove to Kilcock Garda Station and alerted the Gardaí.

Shortly after 11.45am at a lay-by in Court Town Little, two men were seen jumping into a grey Opel Astra and drive away, the blue Passat was set on fire.  The Astra travelled on the M4 taking the slip road at Junction 6 for Leixlip, the two men abandoned the car here and ran across the motorway, past a council yard in direction of Celbridge.
